Bud Light Cowboy Downhill
The Steamboat Cowboy Downhill is a whimsical event that combines skiing with the lighthearted spirit of the Wild West. Held annually at Steamboat Ski Resort, this unique spectacle sees professional rodeo cowboys and cowgirls swap their saddles for skis, don their cowboy hats and western attire, and tackle the slopes with daring flair. The event, celebrated with infectious laughter and a sense of camaraderie, features entertaining races, daring jumps, and comical antics, all set against the stunning backdrop of Steamboat Springs’ snow-covered peaks.
As the cowboys and cowgirls compete in this one-of-a-kind downhill rodeo, it’s a reminder of Steamboat’s rich ranching heritage and the town’s ability to seamlessly blend its Western roots with its world-class skiing culture. 2025 marks 50 years since Billy Kidd, Steamboat’s Director of Skiing at the time, first started this event, and it’s become one of the most popular events of the Steamboat winter season. The Cowboy Downhill is a true testament to the spirit of adventure and fun that defines Steamboat Springs.
